Salicylic Acid Peel

Salicylic Acid causes shedding of the skin. It is a beta hydroxy acid found in the willow tree. SA peels are a popular and effective treatment used to help clear and prevent pimples, blackheads as well as white heads. SA peels encourage the sloughing of dead skin cells. It’s a safe, effective treatment for mild acne, oily skin and blemish prone skin for it prevents pores from clogging up.

How does it work?

Mild acid solutions, such as salicylic acid encourage the peeling of the top layer of skin, and the opening of plugged follicles which helps restore the normal skin-cell replacement cycle. For milder acne, SA helps unclog pores to resolve and prevent further lesions. It has the ability to exfoliate dead skin and penetrate the pores of the skin. The two actions allow the follicles to remain clear. It helps keep the pores clear of debris, reduces the pores from being blocked and prevents the breakout of acne.

Things to avoid when using SA products:

  1. Abrasive soaps
  2. Skin products containing alcohol
  3. Benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, tretinoin (Vitamin A)
